The Elfbrand Manifesto

Elfquest

When a wise and brave ally created Orcbrand, the call was answered by thousands who eagerly joined the horde. To show my solidarity, I too adopted the brand for a time. Though not fully invested, I threw enough of my mild weight in to consequently be asked about Orcbrand in an interview with a persistently curious fellow. Yet, deep down I knew that I could never truly be an Orc. I share almost none of the physical or mental characteristics required. Orcs are large, strong, loud, obnoxious and barbarous creatures with generally low impulse control. They are aggressive and have an unquenchable thirst for battle. They are not much in the way of tactical strategic creatures but boldly charge forward toward whichever target they are fixated on. No, it would be an insult to both the orcs and my kin to call myself one. I briefly considered applying to be leader of a subspecies of Gretchin and their herd, but Gretchin are typically cannon fodder(though occasionally clever) and are simply smaller versions of orcs rather than something completely different. No, not a Gretchin either. This begs the question, who am I? Who
are we?

For those of us not quite large or brutish enough to pass as orcbrand but with agility, insatiable curiosity, and beautiful thoughts, clearly we are elfbrand. In contrast with the Orcs, I have a slender(yet fit) build and am more inclined to rely on attributes of cunning, stealth, imagination and cleverness when engaging with my enemies. One of my ex-girlfriends would often comment on my having “elf ears.” It was a running meme between us that she had fairy ears(not like a “gay” definition of fairy, but like the female variety such as Tinkerbelle or the ones that give you hearts in Legend of Zelda) and I had elf ears, and thus ours was a romance between fairy and elf. I make no apology for the foray into degenerate interspecism (though I regret the relationship for a plethora of other reasons.)

At this point you may be wondering what Elfbrand is all about. Like, what makes an elf? What do we really believe? I offer this as the official Elfbrand manifesto:

The Elfbrand Manifesto

By B.W. Rabbit

-As elves we are distrustful of outsiders. We are conscious of their reckless, potentially destructive nature and actively plot ways to keep them out and avoid having to interact with them whenever possible.

– Whilst the brutish orcs revel in their pompous machismo and bravado, we remain perched in the treetops of the lost woods, our elven bows polished at the ready – quivers filled with silver arrows – ever the cunning.

– We are psychically sensitive beings, have a love of animals and frequently look to the cosmos, allst the while exploring nature. Whereas the thuggish alpha beasts are likely to blurt out uncouth epithets like “that’s so gay!” at the notion of any admiration of beauty, expression of sentimentality or emotion…we merely roll our eyes, tune them out and continue with the business of soul searching and expanding our collective consciousness.

-Advanced science(often mistaken for magical power by more primitive creatures) is a critical component of elven society and when combined with stealth allows us to defend ourselves when vastly outnumbered.

– Elfbrand contains different factions and much diversity. There are the space-faring Eldar, the natural and homeopathic driven “wood elves,” the cruel and cunning dark elves and so on. We all share the same features and abilities, but they manifest themselves differently among different elven societies according to established norms.

– Increased perception is one of our most defining traits. Seemingly introverted and curious we have a tendency to perceive and understand rather then prematurely judge. Those who identify as Elfbrand are most likely to
fall under the INTP Myers-Briggs personality type.

– Elfbrand men are most closely aligned with beta males(though not the squeaky, fat, neckbeard variety.) Romantic, empathetic and understanding. In the true medieval fashion we have a tendency to white knight even when their is no tangible reward to be reaped. Even the most gallant and alpha embodying among us take on the likeness of a charismatic metrosexual. While the entitled frat bro styled orcmen pillage and plunder the pussy, we opt for style, chivalry, clever humor and establishing a psychic link with the female. We recognize that we will be unlimately be less successful numbers wise but will make more spiritually meaningful connections when we occasionally do make them.

– We place an emphasis on the aesthetic of a society, which often puts us at odds with laissez faire capitalist creatures who sacrifice aesthetic for cheapness, abundance and convenience. Elfbranders marvel at the beautiful expensive sofa that’s uncomfortable to sit on, while other creatures enthusiastically tear down magnificent buildings to make way for cheap, stucco minimalls filled with Jamba Juice smoothie franchises and AT&T wireless stores.

– Our advantageous battle characteristics are swiftness, accuracy, resourcefulness, and adaptability. Our weaknesses are lack of physical strength, reduced numbers and an aversion to direct confrontation. When faced with an aggressive and more powerful adversary, we would be more apt to distract the enemy by throwing them a slab of meat, bypass their defenses and patiently wait for a moment to strike, like thieves in the night…narrowly escaping the barbarian’s firm grip with the agile swiftness of a thousand gazelles.

Note: We are not usually at odds with our orc allies. In many ways it would seem we complement each other. It is important merely to point out memetic and strategic differences, understanding with clarity what our respective roles are in ongoing skirmishes with anarchists, libertarians and SJW goblins.

Starship Troopers – An Unintentionally Great Film Advertisement for “Fascism”

buenosaires

With few exceptions, movie adaptations of novels rarely do justice to the books they are based on. Offhand, I can think of a handful which were at least somewhat worthy representations of their authors’ original works(“The Outsiders” and “Invasion of The Body Snatchers” come to mind as examples.) Even less common, are instances where the director attempted to mock or satirize the political ideas of a book, yet unwittingly ended up portraying them in an flattering light. Such was the case with Paul Verhoeven’s film version of Robert Heinlein’s classic, “Starship Troopers.”

It is a complete mystery as to why Paul Verhoeven was chosen to direct a film adaptation of a book he didn’t remotely like, and admittedly never even read:

“I stopped after two chapters because it was so boring,…It is really quite a bad book. I asked Ed Neumeier to tell me the story because I just couldn’t read the thing. It’s a very right-wing book.”

So there you have it, a guy directing a film version of a story for which he had zero passion and even a mild disdain for. That’s not to say these types of movies should be made by drooling fanboys, but is it to much to ask that a director should have at least read the book and sympathized with it’s message(at least to a degree.) Apparently it is.

The system in Heinlein’s original novel was a form of “limited democracy”(what progressives would probably take to be “fascism.”) Citizenship and the right to vote were not granted on the basis of being born, but instead needed to be earned through volunteering for Federal service. That didn’t mean they had to become soldiers or join the military, only that they must volunteer for the Federation and serve in some way, thus showing individual sacrifice for the common good. It was a reaction to the suicidal and degenerative nature of 20th century democracies, where “people had been led to believe that they could simply vote for whatever they wanted… and get it, without toil, without sweat, without tears.” The message being that a person has to prove through sacrifice for the common cause, that they should have the right to have a say in how they are governed. Heinlein later clarified and expanded on this concept in his 1980 anthology, “Expanded Universe.”

I think I know what offends most of my critics the most about STARSHIP TROOPERS: It is the dismaying idea that a voice in governing the state should be earned instead of being handed to anyone who is 18 years old and has a body temperature near 37 degrees C.

But there ain’t no such thing as a free lunch.

In the same essay, Heinlein floated some creative ideas on criteria for voting eligibility:

A state that required a bare minimum of intelligence and education – e.g., step into the polling booth and find that the computer has generated a new quadratic equation just for you. Solve it, the computer unlocks the voting machine, you vote. But get a wrong answer and the voting machine fails to unlock, a loud bell sounds, a red light goes on over the booth – and you slink out, face red, you having just proved yourself too stupid and/or ignorant to take part in the decisions of grownups. Better luck next election! No lower age limit in this system – smart 12-yr-old girls vote every election while some of their mothers – and fathers – decline to be humiliated twice.

Math isn’t really my strong suit, so I might have had to rely on being laser cannon fodder in the mobile infantry to earn the franchise.

Written in the relatively tranquil 1950’s postwar America, Starship Troopers was prophetic in other ways, such as in predicting with incredible accuracy the patterns of crime we have come to face today:

From Chapter VIII, pp. 90-96:

I found myself mulling over a discussion in our class in History and Moral Philosophy. Mr. Dubois was talking about the disorders that preceded the breakup of the North American republic, back in the 20th century. According to him, there was a time just before they went down the drain when such crimes as murder were as common as dogfights. The Terror had not been just in North America — Russia and the British Isles had it, too, as well as other places. But it reached its peak in North America shortly before things went to pieces.

“Law-abiding people,” Dubois had told us, “hardly dared go into a public park at night. To do so was to risk attack by wolf packs of children, armed with chains, knives, home-made guns, bludgeons … to be hurt at least, robbed most certainly, injured for life probably — or even killed. This went on for years, right up to the war between the Russo-Anglo-American Alliance and the Chinese Hegemony. Murder, drug addiction, larceny, assult, and vandalism were commonplace. Nor were parks the only places — these things happened also on the streets in daylight, on school grounds, even inside school buildings. But parks were so notoriously unsafe that honest people stayed clear of them after dark.”

Sound familiar to the world we currently live in? “the knockout game,”school shootings, thug gangs, mall riots, flash mobs, etc etc. Heinlein named them all without yet knowing what they would be called.

Verhoeven, in the movie version of Starship Troopers, did not apparently he care for any of Heinlein’s ideas and instead sought to mock them(he says it clearly throughout the DVD commentary.) He also states that the theme of the film is how “war makes fascists of us all.” Curiously, the screenwriter, Edward Neumeier seems more sympathetic to Heinlein’s vision, often sparring with the director and remarking how “it’s actually a society that works pretty well. “There’s no sexism. There’s no racism…later we’ll see that there’s very little crime. In fact they seemed to have achieved the ideal sort of politically correct society, although we sort of question how they’ve achieved it.”

While xenophobes like me who lean toward ethnonationalism and race realism would be skeptical that such a color-blind multiracial society could exist without significant friction, I suppose one could make the case that with forced assimilation and a collective insistence on holding everyone to a high standard(things which pussified western countries seem unwilling to do) it might have a chance to work. This is what millions of open minded whites like myself optimistically assumed would happen, during the post segregation “multicultural window.” In current western societies, people aren’t pressured to adopt a color blind mentality but rather they are encouraged to show racial solidarity and embrace their distinctive native cultures(all except White people of course… who are not allowed to self identify except in a pathetic, self hating, “I’m ashamed to be white” kind of way.) Who knows? Moving on…

When Norman Jewison made “Rollerball” in 1975(a film that seems more relevant now than ever,) one of the main points he attempted to convey was how modern sporting events were becoming disgustingly violent spectacles. Yet he was later appalled by the audience’s reaction to the film, when he realized that they actually enjoyed the violence in the film, with some enthusiastic fans even wanting to start up an actual Rollerball league to play the brutal game.

In the same vein, when one watches “Starship Troopers,” a film intended to mock soft fascism, they might conclude that a limited democracy focused on civic minded citizens might actually be an improvement over our current “warm body,” transnational corporate bureaucracy where anyone idiot with a pulse can vote.

yolo

The film “succeeds” in the endeavor by portraying this system in a fictional, futuristic setting. We are able to see a successful quasi-fascist system in action without all the baggage associated with similar systems in 20th century history. It focuses on the society itself, and how it would work, without the “Jew obsession,” conspiracy theories, creepy Hitler worship, and the promotion of ethnic genocide that tends to instinctively repulse people away from being open to the possibility of a more positive and empowering form of “national socialism.” It exposes them to an idea without activating their kook detector, thus bypassing an ideological force field of preconceived biases.

In the shower scene, one of the female cadets reveals that she joined the service because she wanted to have children, and it was “easier to get a license” if you’re a citizen. This is of course meant to shock us, like “how could a society be so cruel as to make someone need to obtain a license to have a baby?” That’s not the way I reacted though, and I don’t think I’m the only one. Given what we have seen in the last 50 years, does anyone really think that everyone should be allowed to have children? and that in a civilized society, the only criteria necessary to be a parent is the ability to hump a willing partner of the opposite sex? It seems to me the results of that reproductive indifference have been catastrophic. Now I’m not suggesting that we restrict breeding to some high IQ elite subset of the community or create some kind of master race, but is it too much to ask that someone be able to at least read and write at a third grade level? Or that they be screened for drug abuse and given a background check? In our present political system, even asking these types of questions is taboo, and actually suggesting and implementing practical solutions is downright unthinkable. “Warm body” democracy and the fear of electoral backlash from a largely illiterate and uninformed citizenry, has made our governments impotent at nearly every level. That’s one of the reasons people are turning away from democracy and giving other systems a second look.

Starship Troopers isn’t a great film. It’s an above average 90’s action adventure movie and a satirical perversion of Heinlein’s terrific novel. But hey, what can you expect from the director that made “Showgirls?”(even though I actually happen to like “Showgirls” in a weird, nostalgic way.) Yet in attempting to mock fascism, “Starship Troopers” somehow manages to create an advertisement for a society which is in many ways superior to our own. Everyone seems happy. Everyone has a role to play that suits them, and they all sacrifice for the common good while preserving some individual autonomy. Those who don’t wish to be citizens aren’t exterminated but are simply left to do their own thing. Colonel Carl summed up their worldview succinctly when he stated:

“You disapprove? Well too bad! We’re in this for the species, boys and girls.”

My thoughts exactly.

A realistic depiction of our own modern day America would be much more terrifying than anything portrayed in “Starship Troopers,”(with the possible exception of a bug alien invasion.)

Perhaps culture wars make fascists of us all.

Putting an End to the Despicable Practice of “Racist Shaming”

jimmy

No one cares about being called racist anymore. The once explosive and crippling charge of “racist!” is becoming as harmless as arrows hitting the broadside of a tank, easily deflected by the force field that’s been slowly generated by decades of overuse of the word in trivial circumstances. Like that guy who let himself get bit by 15,000 mosquitoes a year, we’ve developed a tolerance. That is to say, we’re finally able to tolerate ourselves for being called “racist” and not really losing any sleep over it.

It’s come to have about as minimal of an effect as calling someone a communist in this day and age. At one time, to be accused of being commie scum was a big deal, and many people were forced to twitch and squirm over statements they had made or associations they had with known communists. Some people’s lives and careers were ruined over the accusations.  There’s no need to delve into the argument of whether or not these people actually were communist sympathizers or not, as the whole point is that just being called one was enough to do serious damage to one’s reputation. There were always a few proud commies or course, but they were considered fringe, much like the skinheads or the Black Panthers who would appear on talk shows like Geraldo in the 80’s at the height of the empire. That reminds me of something. Most people probably wouldn’t admit to this, but one of the earliest stirrings of Neotribalist instincts I recall manifesting was in how I would find myself secretly rooting for the Klan when they would be brawling with Black Panthers on Jerry Springer! This was despite the fact that they came off like complete buffoons on these shows(and still do,) seeming so freakish and alien that these “bring out the gimp!” type characters probably delayed any prospect of many normal white people being race conscious by a generation, only to be awakened as the taint of racist assholes became slowly overwhelmed by the accumulation of negative experiences in living with diversity .

But I digress…let’s fast forward from 1954, the days of the McCarthy inquisition and Hollywood blacklist, through the 80’s, the fall of the Berlin Wall, 90’s crap culture, all the way through until the present. Nowadays, if you call someone a communist, they most likely will just roll their eyes and laugh at you(calling them one in a group setting probably will make you look more like the idiot among your peers than the person you called a commie.) Thankfully, for modern thought criminals who notice things, this is exactly what people are starting to do when being called racist. Of course there are still many big media figures who still cringe and cower, naively thinking that if they apologize hard enough and kiss enough black ass, social justice warriors will loosen the grip on their ballsack and accept them back into polite society.

Increasingly though, others recognize that apologizing for being honest about your beliefs is a sucker’s game and instead are willing to take the heat and spit some fire back in return. In this age of “microagressions” and “white privilege,” liberals and race hustlers have overplayed their hand. People understand they will be called racist no matter what they say or do. Indeed, merely existing as a normal white person makes you a racist by default in the eyes of these diversity officers. Most people realize that “anti-racist” has morphed into a euphemism for “anti white.” It’s the same story in feminism, where women now see sexism in everything. It’s gotten to the point where men are so tired of getting nagged about “bodyshaming,” “male privilege,” and the “patriarchy,” that an entire fire-breathing manosphere has been hatched as a form of pushback. Guys who 15 years ago would have identified as feminists and fully embraced the notion of equal rights for women have been shamed and pushed so hard that many have done away with the diplomatic niceties altogether and now freely refer to girls as “cunts” or “whores” without batting an eye.

While pussified republican politicians are late to the party and many media personalities still walk the PC tightrope out of fear of losing their cushy jobs, ordinary people are starting to not give a fuck. Go to any comments section on a Youtube video or news article that deals with hot button racial issues and you’ll see people openly using the N-word, talking about mudsharks or spouting off all kinds of inflammatory racial epithets. The term, “chimpout” was actually trending hashtag on Twitter during the Ferguson riots.

Legendary sports analyst Jimmy the Greek was one of the first casualties of the PC mob back in 1988, for making rather unremarkable comments about black athletes and coaches in a candid interview after having a few drinks. He was immediately fired from CBS, condemned by nearly every media outlet, and his professional career was ruined. I remember watching when Brent Musberger announced Jimmy’s firing before the NFC Championship between the Redskins(ha!) and Vikings. NFL pregame shows have sucked ever since. The Greek was on the front lines of a culture war he didn’t even know he was fighting. He never had a chance. I wish he were alive today so he could refuse to apologize and tell those SJWs to pound sand. Sure, he’d still lose his job for offending a designated victim group(of which there are many more now) and probably for saying much less than what he said then. The difference is he could just shrug his shoulders, get a podcast and youtube channel, and the millions of people who didn’t care if he was racist or not could still enjoy watching him and hearing his colorful analysis.

Social justice warriors often cite studies pointing out that tactics like “slut shaming” or “fat shaming” aren’t effective and instead have the opposite effect on those they are directed toward. Perhaps they should heed their own advice and realize the same holds true for “racist shaming.” It actually makes us become even more racist…. Mwahahahaha.
